There is absolutely nothing worse than asking for collaboration, when it is nothing more than everyone having an opportunity to participate.  The goal of meetings should be mutual involvement with the intent of making a contribution.  Meeting effectiveness and organizational culture are both hot topics.  This HBR post hits both:
